چکیده

The conservation law of energy-momentum (or the definition of energy-momentum density) for the gravitational field is one of the most fundamental and controversial problems in general relativity. As a true field, it would be natural to expect that gravity should has its own local energy-momentum density. However, it is usually asserted that such a density can not be locally defined because of the equivalence principle.1 As a consequence, many attempts to identify an energy-momentum density for the gravitational field lead to complexes that are not true tensors. The first of such attempt was made by Einstein who proposed an expression for the energymomentum density of the gravitational field. Bauer and Shrödinger 2,3 pointed out

Cosmology of Randall-Sundrum models with an extra dimension stabilized by balancing bulk matter

We provide the cosmological solutions for Randall-Sundrum models with the bulk energy-momentum T̂ 5 5 incorporated. It alters the Friedmann equation for the brane scale factor. We make a specific choice of T̂ 5 5 which is adjusted to stabilize the extra dimension. This makes it possible to compactify the extra dimension with a single positive tension brane, and this model provides a RS-type solut...

Dirac Relaxation of the Israel Junction Conditions: Unified Randall-Sundrum Brane Theory

Following Dirac’s brane variation prescription, the brane must not be deformed during the variation process, or else the linearity of the variation may be lost. Alternatively, the variation of the brane is done, in a special Dirac frame, by varying the bulk coordinate system itself. Imposing appropriate Dirac style boundary conditions on the constrained ’sandwiched’ gravitational action, we sho...

Energy-momentum of a Cosmological Brane Model and the Gauge Hierarchy

We analyze the general covariant energy-momentum tensor of the gravitational system in genreal five-dimensional cosmological brane-world models. Then through calculating this energy-momentum for the cosmological generalization of the Randall-Sundrum model, which includes the original RS model as the static limit, we are able to show that the weakness of the gravitation on the “visible” brane is...

Radion Phenomenology in the Randall Sundrum Scenario

Phenomenology of a radion (φ) in the Randall-Sundrum scenario is discussed. The radion couples to the trace of energy momentum tensor of the standard model with a strength suppressed only by a new scale (Λφ) which is an order of the electroweak scale. In particular, the effective coupling of a radion to two gluons is enhanced due to the trace anomaly of QCD. Therefore, its production cross sect...

Vacuum Densities in Braneworlds *

We give a short review of the recent development in the investigation of the vacuum expectation values of the bulk and surface energy-momentum tensors generated by quantum fluctuations of a massive scalar field with general curvature coupling parameter subject to Robin boundary conditions on two codimension one parallel branes located on (D + 1)dimensional anti-de Sitter (AdS) bulk. An applicat...
